1. What personal data do we collect and why do we collect it?
Contact forms and email correspondence
All personal data entered into the Order & Enquiries contact form or sent by email, such as your name, email address, affiliation, will be collected and stored securely so that we can contact you during the period of the editing work or at a later date (e.g. for marketing purposes). Any additional files which you send via the contact form or by email will also be stored securely and will not be shared with any other parties.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
2. How do we use your data?
We will use the collected data to communicate with you about the service(s) you have enquired about or may be interested in. If you decide to use our services, we will use your data to perform these services to the best of our abilities (for example, matching our expertise to your field of research).
If we have your permission, we will also occasionally contact you by email with information about services or promotions we think you might find interesting; you are free to unsubscribe from such emails at any time.
The information we collect will only be used for the purposes of us providing our services to you. We will never sell your information to anyone else, and we will never pass your information to any third parties without your express permission.
3. How do we store your data?
Any information we collect is stored in our email accounts, client database, website (from enquiries using the website contact forms) and accounting software, which are all protected with secure passwords. Your information will be used only to perform the service(s) requested and will not be disclosed to any third party.
We take all reasonable steps necessary to ensure that your data and files are treated securely, including password protection of hardware, software, email, and cloud storage accounts, and continuous use of up-to-date anti-malware software.
We will keep your data for no longer than is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and provide the most effective and efficient service for you.
4. Your rights
Deleting your data
You are free to ask us to delete your data at any time. If you do, we will delete all your data other than that necessary for us comply with our legal obligations (for example, we have to keep invoices which contain our clients’ names and addresses for 7 years to comply with UK tax regulations).
Correcting your data
You are free to ask us to change or update any incorrect data. We will act on your request within one month of receiving it (but usually by the next working day).
Objecting to or restricting the use of your data
You are free to object to us using your data, or to restrict us from using it (for example by unsubscribing to marketing communications). We will act on your request as soon as we can – usually immediately after receiving it, or at the latest within one month.
Accessing your data
You also have the right to request to access your personal data and understand why we have it. We will be happy to send you a copy of all your personal data, and explain why we have it, within one month of your request. Please note that this applies only to your own data – we cannot send you anyone else’s data.
